Founder & CEO | Licensed Professional Counselor | EMDR-Trained TherapistKahla Slaughter is the Founder and CEO of The Heal Center Counseling, LLC, where she leads a team dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for adults. Kahla is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy. She is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at Mississippi College, where she is advancing her clinical training and scholarship. Kahla specializes in the treatment of trauma, attachment issues, anxiety, and depression, including complex and developmental trauma. She has advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a research-supported therapy for trauma recovery. Her areas of focus also include relationship concerns, grief and loss, body image issues, substance use, identity development, and life transitions.
In addition to her clinical work, Kahla provides pre-marital counseling using the SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) assessment, an evidence-based tool designed to help couples strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and build a solid foundation for marriage.
Kahla’s therapeutic style is warm, grounded, and collaborative. She blends clinical expertise with genuine connection and a touch of humor, believing that therapy is most effective when clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow at their own pace.
Outside of her professional work, Kahla enjoys watching TV, spending time with loved ones, doing hair, traveling, and taking well-deserved naps. She believes rest and connection are vital components of emotional wellness — both in and out of the therapy room.
Kahla is in network with BCBS, Aetna, United Healthcare, and Magellan.

Under the supervision of Patrice Holloway Thomas, LPC-SHi, I’m Kimberly Larkin, ALC, and I am passionate about supporting marginalized communities in navigating anxiety and depression through a compassionate, person-centered approach. I believe that healing happens in the context of safety and connection, so I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where individuals can explore their experiences and build resilience at their own pace.
I integrate evidence-based therapies including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support emotional regulation, reduce distress, and foster healthier thought patterns. In addition to individual counseling, I work with couples to improve communication, deepen emotional intimacy, and resolve conflict in meaningful and sustainable ways.
My goal is to empower clients to cultivate self-awareness, embrace personal growth, and experience more fulfilling and authentic lives.
Kimberly offers affordable private pay sessions and accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna insurance.
